Children of the Revolution - Episode 98

In this episode, we run a little shorter than usual. However, it’s more due to the nature of this book and less about our opinion. This book is very similar to books like Children of the Night and Children of the Inquisition in that it is a character-specific sourcebook. Bob and Nate review it as a modern version of the style and talk about some of the characters they find most interesting.
This book was written by, Justin Achilli, C.A. Suleiman, Eddy Webb, Joseph Carriker, and Christopher Kobar for Onyx Path Publishing and released October 26, 2012.

Children of the Revolution
Written by: Justin Achilli, C.A. Suleiman, Eddy Webb, Joseph Carriker, and Christopher Kobar
October 26th, 2012
Children of the Revolution
tells the stories of noteworthy or notorious Kindred of the modern nights whose Embraces came in times of unrest, rebellion, or open revolution. The circumstances of these revolutions might have been mortal or undead, martial or cultural. These Kindred joined the ranks of the Damned under tides of war or cultural upheaval, and their blood bears the mark of change from one paradigm into another. Sometimes they are the agents of change. For others, their revolution drags them in its wake.

The world of the Kindred is always fraught with blood and danger, and Embrace amid the fires of revolution only heightens that fact. Here are Kindred who have risen to guide the Black Hand, who have led the armies of Alexander, who have earned the Lextalionis, and who have been reborn in the fires of the Arab Spring. Their histories have been forged, but their futures remain to be determined by your troupe.

Lair of the Hidden - Episode 90

Follow Bob and Nate as they take a journey into the mysterious lair of the Inconnu and explore Hunedoara Castle in 2003's Lair of the Hidden. This book acts as sourcebook and chronicle/module for Vampire: the Masquerade's Time of Judgement.
The Time of Judgment series is semi-canon and is intended to allow players the option to end their own personal stories.
Unlike previous themed years, there were no events characterizing the Time of Judgment that affected all World of Darkness game lines; instead, each game was given a selection of its own specifically-tailored final fates or multiple endings which are determined by the actions and choices of the
player.

Lair of the Hidden was Written by: Sarah Roark, Dean Shomshak, and Janet Trautvetter and released August 11th 2003 by White Wolf Game Studios.

1st Edition: Revisited - Episode 86

In this very normal episode, Bob and Nate honor the release of V5 by going back in time and reviewing a few 1st edition books we missed. What did we miss?
First, we talk about 17-page module, Blood Nativity. This story serves as an introduction to Vampire: the Masquerade and was published by Atlas Games in 1991 for White Wolf. We have briefly mentioned this in previous podcasts, but we get a bit deeper in this review.
Next, we discuss the 36-page module, Blood Bond, also from 1991. This story explores the mystical blood bond, as well as centuries-old feud between two elder vampires.
Finally, we discuss the 83-page story supplement, Ashes to Ashes, published in 1991 by White Wolf. This book continues the chronicle, Forged in Steel, and the battle between the prince of Chicago and Gary, IN. This book, as well as Blood Bond, are part of the Chicago Chronicles collection 3.

Blood Nativity was written by: Lynn Severson and Michael Harms (According to the White Wolf Wiki, this adventure was actually written by White Wolf staffers using pseudonyms.)
Blood Bond was written by: Ken Cliffe
Ashes to Ashes was written by: Stewart Wieck

Kindred of Ebony Kingdom Part 1 - Episode 83

In this episode, Nate and Bob discuss the Kindred of the Ebony Kingdom Sourcebook. This sourcebook details the culture and society of the Laibon; the kindred of the African continent.
Also, this review will be split into two parts. In this first episode, we whet our whistle for the Laibon, as well as 'soapbox' for a large portion of the podcast. Next episode, we will dig deeper into the culture, character creation, disciplines and more of the book.
This book was written by Justin Achilli, Jason Feldstein, Joddie Gray, Will Hindmarch, Ari Marmell, and  Voronica Whitney-Robinson for White Wolf Publishing and released April 28th of 2003.

Kindred of the Ebony Kingdom
written by Justin Achilli, Jason Feldstein,
Joddie Gray, Will Hindmarch, Ari Marmell, and
Voronica Whitney-Robinson
April, 28th 2003

Domains Long Hidden
Africa has long been a bastion of mystery in the World of Darkness. Finally, the domains south of the Sahara are revealed - and the laws of Western Kindred hold no water here. Out of the Kingdom of the secretive Laibon come the monstrous Guruhi, the atavistic Naglopers and the wise Akunanse - and untold other horrors.

Still Children of Caine?
Created in the tradition of Kindred of the East, Kindred of the Ebony Kingdom offers an all-new take on the race of Caine. Although presumably still descended from the FirstVampire, the Kindred of Africa have evolved a very different society - one completely alien to Western Kindred. Many mysteries of the Cainite race play out here in the Ebony Kingdom, and just as many rise to take their place.

Encyclopaedia Vampirica - Episode 78

In this episode of 25 Years of Vampire: the Masquerade, we take about the in-game (and excellent OOC resource) prop, Encyclopaedia Vampirica. This book was "written" by a number of kindred luminaries from the World of Darkness. As such, there is no further info about the real-world authors.

The Roll of the Damned
For centuries, the Kindred have hidden from the wary eyes of mortals. Enigmatic creatures, the Kindred's efforts to uphold the Masquerade have often succeeded even beyond their own desires, and a few of the damned in the modern nights even know those outside their immediate domains. But the long and terrible history of the undead is as broad and sweeping as the myriad Kindred who make it.

Nights of Prophecy - Episode 54

In this episode, we dive into some of the canonical metaplot of Vampire: the Masquerade. This book serves as an update to the constantly changing World of Darkness. If this came out ten years later, we'd call it a 'patch'.

Written by:
Richard E. Dansky, Geoffrey C. Grabowski, Kenneth Hite, Clayton Oliver and Cynthia Summers
Roses watered with blood
It has been over five centuries since the curtain of the Masquerade was drawn across the stage of the Kindred. It has been five centuries of secrecy, tradition and lies, five centuries of hidden elegance and terror.
It has been five centuries since anyone knew the truth.
Now, at last, the curtain will be drawn back. The lies will be exposed. And maybe, just maybe, the truth will be revealed to you.

Prince's Primer/ Blood and Fire - Episode 38

Two books for the price of one?!? You bet your sweet ass. In what may be becoming a bit of a pattern, we consolidate two books that might not stand on their feet for a single review. Anyways, we prove tonight that not all of our reviews are hopeless pandering to a game we love!

D.C. by Night
Written by:
Harry L. Heckel IV
May 1st, 1995

Washington DC, a city born of the swamps, offers vampires a treasure beyond all measure: power. In this place where even mortals have might once undreamed of, the undead strive for influence that their peers can only envy. The best try, but only the most devilish succeed.

The Capital fears more than just vampiric politics, though. The Kindred fight gun battles in the Southeast; drive off werewolves, mages, and others who covet their dominance; and clash with the many vampire hunters who call the city home. D.C is a dangerous place for the undead, but its rewards outweight its dangers.

Dirty Secrets of the Black Hand
Written by: Steven C. Brown
December, 1994

Synonymous with terror and destruction, for centuries the Black Hand has struck fear in the still hearts of Camarilla's vampires. What would the members of that august sect give to know the role the Black Hand has played in its own history?

The Black Hand is far more powerful than the Camarilla or even the Sabbat suspect, and its role tonight is even more critical than ever.

New Orleans by Night
April 22nd, 1994
Written by: Patricia Ann Roshell

City of Beauty
Fabled New Orleans, with its breathtaking buildings and romantic history, is the picture of elegance and sophistication. It is both vibrant and dignified; the elegant jazz music born in the city's streets reflects its soul. No other city so mixed its grace and its passion.

City of Sin
But there are vampires here. Any place so alive cannot help but attract the immortal parasites who seek to steal this life energy for themselves. The Damned are an intrinsic part of New Orleans. They built it... and they may tear it down.

Bloody Hearts - Diablerie: Britain
1993 Written by: Dustin Browder
Absolute Power Can Corrupt
The thirst for the most powerful blood can drive any vampire mad with desire. Its taste, bouquet, smell, and texture are like nothing else the Kindred can experience. The feeling of it as it flows past undead lips is exquisite beyond belief. And the power it provides...

Even Those Already Corrupted
But its consumption destroys the predator as surely as the prey. The very soul of the victim is taken in the act and, as the victim dies, so does the Diabolist. None can take so completely without paying the price. None can first feel absolute power without first knowing absolute horror.
