Lore of the Clans
Written by: Alan Alexander, Kevin Czarnecki, Joshua Doetsch, Matt McElroy, Andrew Peregrine, Ree Soesbee, Rob Wieland, Christopher Wilde
December 23rd, 2015
My sire always told me, “There’s no instruction manual for being dead, strákur.” I believed her, because she was older and smarter than me, and we value knowledge if nothing else. Many sires spill a lot of poison into the ears of their childer, telling them the One True Way to be a vampire. Some vampires don’t even bother, kicking their errant progeny to the streets and letting them figure it out for themselves. A few smother their instruction in religious imperatives, philosophical tenets, or mystical confluences. But not one of them has a pamphlet with clear, easy instructions once you’ve become Damned.

Of course they lie. All vampires lie. But the best lies are those that are told between two truths, yes? Here are thirteen such truths, childe. They may line up with other things you know, or they might not. Sometimes the narrators present tantalizing rumors and conspiracies, while others digress into areas not often considered by many. Some of what they say have no facts to back them up, but not everything is a lie, either.
Let us find instruction from amidst the lies, together.

Clanbook: Gangrel Revised - Episode 58

In this wonderful episode, we discuss our views on the Revised edition of the Gangrel Clanbook. What else can be said about that?

Psst. Did you know that we reward some of our Patreon backers with an online vampire game called, Curse of Caine? Even if you don't want to play (which deeply saddens me), there are links to the server so you can hang out, read some V:tM role-play, and make new friends!

Noble Savages? Or Savages Unbound?
As rogues and wanderers, the Gangrel have always placed themselves apart from other Kindred. The Outlanders have no need for the petty Jyhads and useless sniping of the undead - they are vampires, the highest order of beasts! Now, Clan Gangrel prowls the night unfettered by the traditions of the crumbling Camarilla. They have finally called the night their own.

Ghouls: Fatal Addiction - Episode 40

In this episode, we review the essential book about those that serve the undead: Ghouls. This book is essential for any storyteller looking to paint these half-damned individuals in the correct light, as well as players looking to create their own Ghoul character. Ghouls: Fatal Addiction is a must for any CWoD collection.
Also, we know there's a Ghouls and Revenants V20 book. We just forgot about it while discussing this book. Thanks.

Ghouls: Fatal Addiction
Written by:
Ronni Radner and Ethan Skemp
May 12th, 1997

C'mon...Everybody's Doing It...
It seems so easy. Just a sip, a taste, and you're better than all the rest. You can suck up a bullet wound to the gut. You can knock your enemies through walls with a shove. You can have all the night has to offer without sacrificing your body and soul to it. This deal is too good to be true. Yeah. That's what Faust said. And now the Damned want their due.

...You Know You Want It!
Ghouls: Fatal Addiction is a Vampire: The Masquerade sourcebook detailing the half-human servants of the Kindred. Whether you need a few new whipping boys or just want to taste the lash yourself, this book has everything you need to create ghouls as player or Storyteller characters.
Watch out, though. This book just might make Renfield wake up and smell his fix...and the master who lives by blood might die by it, too.

Kindred Most Wanted Episode 27

In this episode, we discuss "The Kindred Most Wanted" - an account of the top 13 most deadly and wanted vampires by the Camarilla. This list is officially known as The Red List and the cainites in it as Anathema.

The Kindred Most Wanted
June 24th, 1994
Written by: Ran Ackels

We Have Nothing to Fear...
The vampires, the terrors of the dark, have their own secret fears. As they hunt, they watch over their shoulders. As they make their way from victim to victim, they listen with growing dread lest they become victims themselves. These lords of the night know that even the mightiest of the Damned can be brought down.

...Except Ourselves
Compiled in the early part of this century, the Red List, also known as the Kindred Most Wanted, catalogues the crimes and horrors committed by these hated outlaws. When the Justicars themselves, the most powerful of Cainites, cannot apprehend their enemies, they make them Anathema, hunted by all vampires.

Clanbook: Gangrel - Episode 18

In stark contrast to our previous review, we take a look at an unsung gem of the V:tM 1st/ 2nd edition catalog - Clanbook: Gangrel. Presented by gonzo journalist, Dr. Raoul King, this clanbook tells the tale of Lord Ashton as he leads you through the nightly existence of the Gangrel.

Vampire: the Masquerade, 2nd Edition - 1992
Written By: Mark Rein•Hagen, Graeme Davis, Tom Dowd, Lisa Stevens, Stewart Wieck

*Note: in our haste to review the second edition, we incorrectly remembered this book and erroneously stated that the Sabbat clans, independent clans and some various other information was in this book, when it is in fact, not. We apologize for our mistake. There is actually very little additional information in this book that was missing from the previous edition. Also, The Appendix has the beginning of the Forged in Steel Chronicle, which starts in Gary, Indiana and moves into the Chicago Chronicles.*
"Vampire is a game of make-believe, of pretend, of storytelling. Although Vampire is a game, it is more about storytelling than it is about winning. If you've never done this kind of thing before, you may be confused by the whole premise of a storytelling game. Once you catch on to the basic concepts, however, you'll find that it isn't all that strange, and is, in fact, eerily familiar.

You, along with some of your friends, are going to tell stories of madness and lust. Tales of things that go bump in the night. Tales of peril, paranoia, and sinister, shadowy evil. Tales from the darkest recesses of our unconscious minds. And at the heart of these stories are vampires.

These stories will capture your imagination far more readily than any play or movie; likewise, they are of a darker nature than the children's fairy tales you might remember (although those too were rather grim if you think back). This is because you are inside the story and not just watching it. You are creating it as you go along, and the outcome is always uncertain.

This game provides a way to experience a horror of an all too immediate nature, for you experience the terror from the other side of the mirror. The horror of Vampire is the legacy of being half a beast, trapped in a world of no absolutes, where morality is chosen, not ordained. The horror of Vampire is the evil within, and the all-consuming lust for warm blood.

Perhaps the greatest danger of playing Vampire is that of seeing yourself in the mirror. To play this game you must face the madness within you, that which you strive to master and overcome, but cannot bear to face.

Unless you are willing to face the reflection of your own imperfections then go no further. Madness as well as wisdom rewards those who dare to gaze into eternity."
