Hello, friends and fans of metal. Here are some brief updates for you regarding the show, the music I've been playing in regular rotation and other assorted good type things.
My plan to go full time at home have been postponed for the time being because I cannot currently afford to pay for the monthly streaming service. Hopefully, in the near future, I'll be able to get back on track with that plan, but at the moment, it's just not a cost I can fit into the budget. Don't fret though, I'll still be doing the show over at The Edge On Air for the time being. I could record a metal podcast like I was when I first started, but I'm not totally sure I want to do that at the moment.
In other news, here's some of the sweepers and liners I made for the home show. Some of them might even get (or have been) played on the Tuesday/Thursday show!
Here are some of the images I've been working on to promote the show.
Here's a quick rundown of some of the recent additions to the show.
PESSIMIST “Slaughtering the Faithful”
Release Date: Oct 31, 2015
Originally formed in Baltimore, MD 1993, PESSIMIST quickly made a name playing live shows in the MD/DC/VA area, opening for bands such as Deicide, Suffocation, and Incantation. After releasing their selfproduced “Absence of Light” Demo/EP in 1995, PESSIMIST signed to Lost Disciple Records and released two CDs, “Cult of the Initiated” (1997) and “Blood for the Gods” (1999), which soared into the Top 20 CMJ Loud Rock Charts and received the coveted "Pick of the Issue... 10 Fucking Skulls!" in SOD Magazine.
PESSIMIST went on to appear at several major US fests: Milwaukee Metalfest (98,99,01) NJ “March Metal Meltdown” (2000-02), New England Hardcore and Metal Fest (1999-02), and the “November to Dismember” Metalfests in TX, and CA - and completed their first European tour in 1999. More shows soon followed, opening for Cannibal Corpse, Testament, Nile, Dark Funeral, Morbid Angel, and Immolation.
In 2001, after several lineup changes, PESSIMIST recorded their 3rd CD, “Slaughtering the Faithful”.
The band split for several years afterwards, while PESSIMIST founder/ guitarist Kelly McLauchlin went on to tour and record with such notable acts as Diabolic, Angelcorpse, and the legendary Possessed.
Some years later, the band has acquired the rights to their original master recordings, and has signed with Obscure Musick to re-release these 3 classic PESSIMIST albums, “Cult of the Initiated”, “Blood For the Gods”, and “Slaughtering the Faithful”.
This special 2015 re-release of “Slaughtering the Faithful”, is PESSIMIST’s fastest, most lethal and most blasphemous CD, to date; produced by Erik Rutan (Morbid Angel, Hate Eternal) and digitally re-mastered by Juan “Punchy” Gonzalez (Live sound for Nile, Morbid Angel). Featuring art by Jon Zig, this CD is filled with sadistic, blackened Death Metal, in the vein of Krisiun, Hate Eternal, or Immolation.
This special CD release also includes bonus tracks, “Summoned to Suffer” 2000 Demo and a live in-studio performance on WNYU, 89.1FM. The digital-only release includes 3 additional bonus tracks; live rehearsal tapes from the “Slaughtering” demos, featuring recently-deceased drummer, John Grden (RIP).
PESSIMIST re-united in 2014, returning to the stage with a headlining slot at Las Vegas Deathfest 666. The current lineup includes founding members Guitarist Kelly McLauchlin (Diabolic, Unholy Ghost, Possessed) and Drummer Chris Pernia (Psychotogen) plus Bassist Kelly Conlon (Monstrosity, Death), Guitarist William Hayden (Fear of God), and Vocalist Ivan “The Evil One” (Black Mass). The band is currently writing their next CD, “Keys to the Underworld”.

Tales of the Tomb
Volume One: Morpras
Release: 27 November 2015
Edmonton (Canada) Death Metallers TALES OF THE TOMB will release debut EP Volume One: Morpras on November 27, 2015. TALES OF THE TOMB is a three-headed vocal attack layered with grinding blast beats, injected with Cerberus-esque barks and finished with shrill and raspy vocals - a sound straight from Hell. Gore-filled lyrics leave little to the imagination as the band concocts song after malicious song. TALES OF THE TOMB will destroy your eardrums like a corpse is erased in an acid-filled bath.
"Out of the gates we have just under a year have played over a half dozen shows and recorded our debut 3-song EP entitled Morpras. The name is old English for "secret killing of a person, unlawful killing." The EP is a compilation of serial killer themed music not celebrating but elaborating on the heinous crimes committed by infamous murderers. It is old school death metal with its blending of melody and groove, gives Morpras its unique sound. The first track 'Snowtown' will ease you into this murderous journey with a heavy groove and plenty of vocals. 'Pig Farmer,' the 2nd song on the EP is as fast and brutal as the slaying of Robert Pickton; the song is also accompanied with our lyrical video which will be available on Youtube. 'Dr. Death' also makes an appearance as the final track, a chilling slower tempo song that depicts the heinous crimes of Harold Shipman."- John Thomson (Drums)
This concept album about murder was recorded by Greg Wright at Hillbilly Wizard Sound Studio, and mixed/mastered by Euro-death metal master Dan Swano (ex-Bloodbath, Unisound) and is just the first of many more sonic crimes to come from TALES OF THE TOMB.
Every town has stories to caution or warn, every police officer has a seen a crime that keeps them awake at night, and every coroner has seen death in ways that the rest of us could never imagine. Murder, conspiracy, supernatural horror, and real-life terror are stains on the cutting room floor where Edmonton-based group Tales of The Tomb paints their canvas.
Unified by the desire to have the grotesque power of 90’s era death metal, TALES OF THE TOMB started as a thought that grew into an insatiable need to make extreme music. Core Skerlak and Connor Adams divided duties to guitar and vocals respectively, Bryn Herbert was sewn on to cover bass, John Thomson is the machete-swinging drummer, and finally Tres Thomas to draw out the gruesome tone as the second guitarist. Much of their inspiration is drawn from the pulp-and-grim of throwback horror comics that glorified hideous crimes and creatures, and such was the inspiration for the name; TALES OF THE TOMB.

Dissecting, slicing and recombining the musical DNA of Extreme Metal since 2001.
After five studio album and countless tours, OTARGOS are back with their sixth studio full-length celebrating their 15th anniversary. Completing the stylistic turn started with previous album “Apex Terror”, OTARGOS are back stronger than ever with a Dark Extreme Metal full-length adding to the bands’ trademark Blackened Death Metal structures bits of Industrial Metal, Death Metal, Black Metal, Orchestral Gothic Metal (think SepticFlesh) and more for a unique result: dynamic, strong, heavy, dark, intense and modern yet absolutely catchy, full of dark anthems. The lyrical concept OTARGOS have been developing since their inception, based on quantum physics chaos, multiverse evilness, alien predation and the Warhammer 40K RPG, "Xeno Kaos" is the great Beast that will prey on humans.
That's a small selection of some of the new music I've been playing on the show. Keep it here for more info and album reviews.
Until next time. keep it brutal!
